During the 1998-1999 season, Mt Baker broke a world record with 1,140 inches of snow. Its average 641 inches of powder is also not too shabby. Low key and unpretentious, Mt Baker is a snowboarding mecca. It even has a special bus that provides transportation to the mountain from the Whatcom area.

Baker also enjoys the unofficially highest average annual snowfall of any resort in the world, with 641 inches (53.4 ft; 16.3 m).[1][2][3] The ski area is known for numerous challenging in-bounds routes and for the many backcountry opportunities that surround it. The backcountry is accessible from several chairlifts, and access is permitted from the resort following the Mt. Baker Ski Area backcountry policy.
