What People Say: They’ve got everything you want to do on the mountain under one roof.  Compare notes on vertical at Apres, check the new snow report in the morning or just see who is around.  I tried it out in Beaver Creek and once all my friends are converted (they just released the Android platform as well) it will be a blast.

What People Say: I’ve tried synthetic and other wool socks but always come back to the smartwool socks. They stand up great and wick moisture like crazy. Also the stink is almost non-existent after a hard day on the slopes. Thank you, SmartWool. This is without a doubt the most comfortable sock that has ever been pulled over my feet. I’m in love.

#9 Osprey Kode 30 Backpack

Description: Inbounds, out the gate, or full-on backcountry—the Osprey Kode 30 Backpack doesn’t discriminate when it comes to a day out on the snow. This mid-sized ski pack holds your avy tools and other essential equipment for short tours or shredding the sidecountry.

What People Say: Hands down, this is by far the BEST ski touring/mountaineering pack I have ever used. No doubt. For years I have been using a BD avalung pack, and well basically those things carry/wear very poorly. This pack fits so snug and tight, rides really clean, I forget its there. The huge back panel opening is brilliant for ski touring, making gear organization a dream and the back panel never gets snowy when you put it down to get things out. There is no better ski touring pack on the market as far as I am concerned.

Recommendation: If you’re planning on exploring those backcountry stashes this winter, this is the pack for you. Voted the best touring pack by all reviewers.
